The Bullitt County, Kentucky musicians: songwriter / producer / guitarist /singer Anthony Olympia (he played on the Sam Hunt album Southside) with performer and ASCAP Foundation (Leon Brettler Award) singer-songwriter Brent Rupard, have been plying their fussless, swampy, rock ‘n’ roll vitalized country-lovin’ blues all around the U.S. and into Europe for the last few years. The duo signed to BMG records in 2018.
“We’ve toured a lot with just me and Anthony on our acoustic guitars,” says Brent Rupard.
“We love plugging up electric guitars and playing full band, but there is something about the freedom that comes along with just us two jamming together. It brings a raw human element to the performance that we can feel our crowd respond to.”
The ‘High and Lonesome’ lament has a chugging rhythm, competent vocals— nested around a neat set of woodsmoked fingerpicked tonalities— and a plucky twinkle-in-the-eye sense of hazy ruefulness.
