This weekend the British blues roots rock guitarist BEX MARSHALL released “I Can’t Look You In The Eye” – the second single from her forthcoming album Fortuna.
With slick licks that push into the centerline of the piece, “I Can’t Look You In The Eye” (music video shared below) rises like a serpent on a gravelstone path. The voice is crushed stone & bone: a combination of fortitude, mortar, and moxie. Meantime, the guitar shimmers flawless as the skin on a diamondback.
The eagerly anticipated Fortuna is expected to be a ten-track blues candlewick of sounds filled with captivating storylines and intricate hooks that will crest a listener’s emotional boundaries. On the disc, the renowned musician expands the natural bounds of the genre to intertwine Americana, funk, and rock into the tonal sweep of the authentic blues.

“I have been influenced by multiple artists,” says Bex. “For me it never stops. Songwriters, vocalists, and guitarists – you name it!”
“I Can’t Look You In The Eye is blues rock song born from not being able to comfortably stare at a person in conversation,” she explains.
“Due to the fact that the energy and attraction between the of the two is so intense, almost like opposing magnets until the eyes connect. The song was co-written with Scott Coopwood from Clarksdale, Mississippi, with revered local musicians.”
