The BIG WOLF band is known for being among the top live acts in the industry. They are renowned for their intense performances and an extensive repertoire of original blues rock tunes, which sets them apart from other ensembles.
In 2024, Big Wolf achieves an important landmark as they commemorate their tenth anniversary as a band. The new album title, “Rebel’s Journey,” seems fitting given their endurance against odds.
The band’s evolutionary development (with band-leader Jonathan Earp’s personal journey) are the focus of the album.
“Rebel’s Journey highlights my own personal battle with my mental and physical health,” says vocalist & guitarist, Earp.
“I have a connective tissue disorder called Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (HEDS) which affects everything. I had surgery in mid-2019 during our Be Free tour to repair damage to my right shoulder, dislocations, and nerve pain. Unfortunately, the operation caused more pain and numbness and for nearly 2 years I struggled to play; some days to even hold a plectrum.”

Empire and a Prayer is the first single off the album (you can watch the video below). This is a fast-paced guitar track with an accelerating riff. It blasts your ears with a combination of Americana, blues, and swishy southern rock, along with dynamic percussion, super-propelling piano, and engaging vocal melodies.
The song, which was co-written by Earp and the rhythm guitarist for the Big Wolf band, Justin Johnson, is about escaping everyday troubles by going on a road trip. The song also serves as a tribute to a buddy who previously supported the band. The amazing blues-rock ‘Great gig in the sky‘ singer Zoe Green provides the background vocals on both this and other numbers on the album.
