After the band’s second EP, Dancing in the Face of Danger (March 2023, Long Branch Records), which was met with overwhelmingly positive reviews from across the world, comes the EXPLORING BIRDSONG rendition of the Deftones number “Diamond Eyes.” After Dancing, the band wanted to draw a line in the sand to signal the beginning of a new chapter:
By happenstance, they found themselves working with a new production team (Tom Peters engineering, with Grant Berry mastering) who helped them bookend the Dancing in the Face of Danger period.
“We wanted to experiment sonically before heading into full length album territory, which is why we think it feels different to anything we’ve released previously.”
New bands seldom get any more vibrant, brilliant, or distinctive as Exploring Birdsong, a trio that comprises Lynsey Ward on vocals & piano; Jonny Knight on bass & synthesisers, ane Matt Harrison on drums+ percussion.
Mostly incomparable, this unique band straddles the boundaries of pop, progressive rock, and architecturally pleasing genre-blending beauty.
They sound a lot like Kate Bush, Sleep Token, Everything Everything, and Agent Fresco, yet all those influences are commingled into a cinematically alluring concoction of aurality.
