BEAUX GRIS GRIS & THE APOCALYPSE is the musical project of the Louisiana-born entrepreneur and artist GRETA VALENTI and her Well Hung Heart collaborator, the Cornish musician, record producer and musical director ROBIN DAVEY.
You may know Davey as a founding member of the British blues band, The Hoax. He was also the director of the award-winning documentary The Canary Effect.
The pair of creative performers met when their respective bands crossed paths on YouTube, having already established themselves as artists and musicians in their own fields. They decided to form a New Orleans-influenced blues ensemble that would include musical members of The Hoax, King King, and the Joanne Shaw Taylor Band, in addition to other notable blues musicians currently working on the British blues scene.

The outfit has already released a sampler EP titled, expediently, “The Appetizer” and a well-received full-length album: “Love & Murder.”
They now announce a new 2022 album, “Good Times End Times” due March 25th 2022.
Robin says, about the first single from the album: “’Fill Me Up’ is the perfect way to reintroduce Beaux Gris Gris after being forced into tour cancelations and release setbacks over the last two years. It comes out of the gate at you, and encapsulates the live energy our shows have always had.”
The single is a thud of salacious innuendo, gunky rhythms, sweaty guitar, slippery piano, and suggestive vocals. Yep, it is red-hot ruttish!
“Good Times End Times”, sees blues pianist and singer Emma Jonson and bassist Stephen Mildwater adding depth to the overall sound. Thus, drummer Mark Barrett’s resourceful originality is given more room to breathe. Mix engineer Arkadi, better known for his dance remixes of Maroon 5 and Kelly Clarkson, brings a sense of modern vivacious buoyancy to this classic 5-piece blues-rock set up.
Greta explains, “The collection of songs from this entire album were born out of a time of darkness, isolation, depression, frustration, and pure survival over the past two years.”
Apocalyptic themes mark the album, then, although the light of awakening is what sparks Greta and her band to re-focus on the promise of music.
She continues, “As nothing lasts forever, I knew there would be a release from this state at some point, I wanted ‘Fill Me Up’ to be the keeper of that energy: an explosion, a release, and a true celebration of life and the human connection we all need.”
