THE AMAZONS are preparing to become Britain’s biggest rock band with the release of their long-awaited self-titled album, on June 2 via Fiction Records.

It has been a heady journey for the quartet based in Reading…
They were hotly tipped by Music Week and shortlisted for the BBC Music Sound of 2017 poll, as well as nominated for Q’s Best Breakthrough Act.
They also featured on Apple Music’s New Artists 2017 playlist and Amazon UK’s Ones To Watch and with Deezer’s pick of 2017 polls.
Produced by the Grammy-award nominated Catherine Marks (Wolf Alice, Foals, PJ Harvey) and recorded at the world famous Assault and Battery Studios in West London, their debut album is the result of a stated aim to re-energize 21st century rock ‘n’ roll.
The album is ardent, brave, raw and earthshakingly big … and aimed at a larger slice of the record buying population than you might expect.
The numbers include the punk ‘n’ roll slush-rush of album-opener ‘Stay With Me’ and the disintegrating riffs and ever-proclaiming ‘Junk Food Forever’ as well as the portentous grunge of ‘Little Something’.
‘Burn My Eyes’ is reminiscent of Husker Du, with more than a hint of intuitive hostility in every nuance.
Meanwhile ‘Raindrops’ presents Matt Thomson’s talent for self-examining lyricism and affective vocal delivery in a song that demonstrates a whole lotta musical promise.
The album comes to a finale with the softer piano ballad ‘Palace’ — demonstrating yet another side to this multitalented band .
“I wrote all the songs between the ages of 18 and 22 years old,” explained Thomson, “It’s all quite direct, but emotive too,” he adds.
