Favourably compared to the White Stripes and Dresden Dolls – Albany, (NY) based duo SIRSY features Melanie Krahmer (vocals, drums, bass on a keyboard with her drum stick, flute, melodica) and Rich Libutti (guitar, bass – traditional electric bass and bass on a keyboard with his feet).
Their sounds are described as ‘Indie Rock + Pop – chock full of soul and sincerity with just the right amount of sass.’ They’re powerful, visual, playful, emotional, and dark, with clever hooks and lyrics that transcend their intense subject matter.
Their fifth album ‘Coming Into Frame’ has Grammy-winning producers Paul Q Kolderie and Sean Slade (Hole, Radiohead, Dresden Dolls, Pixies) at the helm, harnessing their tornado-like energy with this new musical incarnation of the band. With these caliber producers, you can expect an irresistible album. From the opening beats of the first track ‘Cannonball’, you’ll get hooked.
We had a listen to ‘Cannonball’ and here’s what we thought:
This is a hectic cranker of a song. It gushes down the slip-lanes of your back-bone, and flames you with its ‘hey-hey’ chorus.
“Love is a cannon ball” she yells, and the sounds from her incredible voice, and the stuttering rhythms, bounce off the glossy surfaces and crash into the oil-gullies of your tender mind.
And all the attention is all focused on your candlepin-glowing softly pumping heart. So, you had better watch out!
