RAW RAMP has been a devoted follower of ALBANY DOWN since their earliest days (2010) and so we’re very pleased to see they’re still toiling & moiling on the blues highway, delivering numbers that cleverly span the age-gap between vintage era blues and the contemporary definition of modern blues rock.
Their songs tell the ongoing story of what it’s like to be a young journeyman blues musician working hard in the 21st century – bursting with the same ambition and verve as the forefathers – and still living in a complex and often-times difficult world.
Now, the blues rock trio, with Paul Turley on guitar & vox, Ben Atkins on bass guitar & backing vox, and Pete Hancock on drums & backing vox, release a new single with a music video (shared below) titled “You Always Want What You Can’t Have” a track recorded at Rockfield Studios about people who are never satisfied with what they have, no matter how lucky they might have been.
It is the first single to be taken from a forthcoming (third) studio album titled “Born In The Ashes” due to be released this September.
The number is a whomping-pulsing carbonation of chords and punchy blues rhythms that crystallize to deliver a spectacularly rewarding chorus together with lots of splendiferous starbursts of rinsing guitar.
