Californian Southern rockers ROBERT JON & THE WRECK in association with Joe Bonamassa’s record label KTBA Records, has announced the release “Old Hotel Room” — the second single taken from their forthcoming album Wreckage Vol. 2.
The song ‘Old Hotel Room’ is about the isolating nature of being on the road: “It’s about thinking about the one you left back home, and the struggle that one can have […] in an old hotel room,” says the Wreck’s lead singer and guitarist Robert Jon Burrison.
Concentrating on the sense of momentary longing, the song develops delicately and compassionately with homesick guitars and atmospheric piano.
Robert Jon’s vocals are wire-haired and bristly as ever, but never irascible. The chorus flourishes into a love-scented contemplation of all that we miss, all that we leave behind, and all that we long for too… as we travel through this lonely life. We are all travellers. We are all on the road —though sometimes we might forget just how lonely life can be. And, all of us, we are all travelling at light speed through this Universe! In that regard, we all have ‘our’ own private Hotel Room moments too!
Wreckage Vol. 2 is a collection of exclusive in-studio and live concert performances recorded from 2020 – 2022.
The new album showcases a truly remarkable career-spanning collection of songs, including brand-new song debuts, as well as some updated live performances of fan favourites “On The Run” and “Cannonball,” that are sat alongside freshly released live versions of The Wreck’s piercing 2022 singles, ‘She’s a Fighter” and “Waiting For Your Man” and a stunning performance of The Band’s 1968 single “The Weight.”
The new original songs on the album include “Old Hotel Room” and “Dark Roses” which were recorded at the legendary Sunset Sound in Los Angeles.
Wreckage Vol. 2 captures all of the enthusiasm and intensity that Robert Jon & The Wreck produce when they perform for their ever-expanding fan base.
