British rockers WAYWARD SONS will soon release their 2nd album: “The Truth Ain’t What It Used To Be” due this October.
The new album might be described as a concept piece, since there is a narrative thread that unites the twelve individual tracks, although the singer / guitarist, composer and producer Toby Jepson (Little Angels) has defined it as a “protest” album and he’s described the new material as a “political” but not of the type that seeks to send a message to the house, but rather a reflection of his opinion on where we are in the world at this time.
On the engaging new songs Jepson draws influence from storytellers such as: Elvis Costello, David Bowie and Queen — artists who convey a strong message through their storytelling art.
The band comprises of Jepson (vox & guitar) with Sam Wood (guitar), Nic Wastell (bass), Dave Kemp (keys) and Phil Martini (drums)
A short film will run alongside the album, with four video tracks standing alone and also being able to be run together as a whole. The film traces the narrative concept of the album. The first video will be for the track: “Joke’s On You” and can be viewed below.
The new tune has a vibrant Lizzy vibe, as it makes fun of the new era of “The Joker” with super flexible bass notes, a catchy and glamorous chorus, plinky fresh keynotes and a song style that’s truly sexidextrous.
This is a motleygasmic way of poking fun at the ridiculous state of affairs we find ourselves in…
