THE APOCALYPSE BLUES REVUE which features Godsmack’s Shannon Larkin (drums) and Tony Rombolo (guitar) have announced that “The Shape Of Blues To Come” — their brand new album — is due out July 20th via Provogue/Mascot Label Group.

THE APOCALYPSE BLUES REVUE – a tasty Seventies sojourn ?

The band have also produced a lyric video for the first track to be released from the album.

Hell To Pay” [shared below] is a tasty Seventies sojourn with a jangled riff and smoke-dried vocals. There’s bombilation and weightiness in each chewed meditation.

Speaking about the song, drummer Shannon Larkin explains: “This song is about finding the balance between the dark and the light aspects of spirituality, and in the end realizing that one needs to find and conquer both to choose your own ultimate path to divinity.”

Harmonically, these twenty-first century blues-prospectors expose a lot of mineral veins, and pan a lot of beds, to fetch-in their gems on The Shape Of Blues To Come. They touch tactile base with conventional blues on “Sincere” and find more intellectual musicality on the progressive “What A Way To Go” with Rombolo’s redolent guitar tones, Larkin’s napped touches on drums, and some syrupy vocal backcloths.
