Anneke van Giersbergen’s VUUR have released the first track from their debut album [yet to be titled ] Days Go By – London.

In 2016 the renowned Dutch vocalist and musician Anneke van Giersbergen [ The Gathering and The Gentle Storm with Arjen Anthony Lucassen] announced the formation of a brand new progressive metal group under the name of VUUR.
The band debuts ‘Days Go By – London’ with an album track video [shared below] and digital release. This song is the first track taken from VUUR’s debut album, which has yet to be named, and is due towards the end of this year.
Anneke said: “The lyrical content of the album is inspired by the many cities I have visited while being on the road. The song ‘Days Go By – London’ is about The Great Fire in 1666. The lyrics are written from the perspective of the element of Fire, threatening Londoners to wipe them out, but the song is also about hope. Even in the darkest of times, the sun will rise.”
We had a listen —
This fine ‘n’ expeditious high-spec prog-metal outing has ever-evolving patterns, technical guitar-work from Ferry Duijsens and Jord Otto plus those trademark melodic haunts from Anneke.
Nimble drummery from Ed Warby (Hail of Bullets) and thrumming bass from Johan van Stratum (Stream of Passion) builds this into a monumental accomplishment.
Looks like Anneke aims to be the progitimate queen of heavy progressive…
