Brighton UK based nine-piece ska warriors THE MEOW MEOWS have been playing live festivals, putting smiles on people’s faces, since 2005.
Their reputation on the live circuit has been building steadily. So much so, in fact, that they have appeared on bills with the likes of Hollie Cook, The Skints and and legends – The Skatalites.
Always willing to make a political point, the band have now shared a video to accompany ‘Young Blood’ — a track that takes on the Tories and the tabloids with all the sunny, ska-vibe contagious energy you might expect.
An up-tempo plea to the youth of Britain to stand up for their future. [Though, sadly, it now seems all too late.]
New album Go Boom! is out soon …
Meanwhile we have been listening to “Young Blood” —
This has a flirtatious beat, organic & fruity saxophone + trumpet and neat and perky vocals.
Of course, it’s not all about joy and salvation. The future seems to have been taken out of the hands of the ‘Young Bloods’ by crusty old has-beens who sit in their comfy chairs to read a poisonous daily fix of The Mail. Now that they have cast their “NO” decisions the young will need to “buckle up” for the bumpy ride ahead. Politically, this is dead accurate.
And, on the musical side, it will remind you of Lily Allen.
